Anyone who wishes to try out IDPA is welcome to join us this Thursday (July 7, 2011). Even if you don't want to shoot this first match, you are welcome to come out and watch and learn what IDPA is all about. New shooter orientation begins at 5:30. You do not have to be a CCGC member to join us for these shoots. For more information, see www.capitalcitygunclub.com/idpa/ and the International website at www.idpa.comYou can also check out the "Competition" section at www.ksccw.com, a forum used by many like-minded shooters throughout Kansas.

'... and a good time was had by all.' I think that sums up very nicely how the first Capitol City Pistol Shooters IDPA match went! Sure it was hot as Hades! And 'I'm melting' was happening all evening. The 27 drops of rain we got didn't cool things down at all. The action was hot and heavy all evening. 69Bowty and Jagdawg sure do know how to throw a party... um ... match! We had 18 shooters and 4 CoFs! We had several of the USPSA guys shoot with us and we had a some folks who'd never shot IPDA, USPSA or any type of defensive pistol competition. I do believe that they are now hooked. As per usual we were running and gunning with steel and cardboard, non-threats and cover, slide-lock and reloads. BBQ tongs were involved in the 2 final stages-- and not in a good way for some folks! You'll have to see the videos ... which may be rated PG for that one. We had a Domination Response CoF. We had a strong hand stage that abra-kadabra was magically transformed into a support / weak hand stage for the final CoF. There was a clever pop-up target that involved shooting a threat target twice that was in front of a steel popper which when triggered popped up a threat target which many of us have seen before but this was also rigged with a clueless non-threat that after a few moments leaps up in front of the threat target, shielding most of the threat target. So yeah, I had a great time. Shot as well as I always do. ;D The 2 one-handed ones I think were my most accurate, even if I kept forgetting it was support hand not strong hand on the last CoF! I took 4gb of video which when done processing will be posted www.youtube.com/user/WarriorKnitter?feature=mhee#g/u. Thanks to Willfully Armed and Gene for wielding the camera when I was otherwise engaged shooting threat targets. Looking forward to the next one! Great job guys!!

If you shoot USPSA at Cap City you only need the IDPA orientation. If you don't you need both. You'll need to contact the match director, Ty Clark [69bowty@ksbroadband.net] and he'll meet with you at Cap City on a day before the match and do the safety briefings (not on the day of the match)
We're losing the evening light and the matches get shorter every time. We have only 2 Thursday evening matches left, 3rd Thurs in Aug, 8/18 and the 1st Thurs in Sept, 9/1 before we move to the Sunday morning schedule. Beginning in October we will shoot the 1st Sunday of every month. On Sundays the setup will start at 7:30am, shooter’s meeting at 9:45 and start the match at 10:00.
Hope to see you there!
